These are time tested theories and money trading methods that will work with any online MMORPG. It should be noted that this guide will only teach you how to trade to make in-game currencies and NOT real world money (Cash). By reading through and following the concepts laid out in this guide, you will become richer and more powerful in the online game of your choice.

Section 4:  Predicting the Future
You can predict the future by using the information you can obtain.  Profit from it!

Constantly monitor what happens in other versions.  Typically the American versions lag the countries of where the game is first released.  Research and note any major price fluctuations with their patch updates.  These market changing updates will totally change how you should handle your in game trading to make profits.

Some of the more important concepts include: New maps, Quests, Level Cap Raises, Game Mechanic changes, Introduction of PvP, and finally the Introduction of additional Cash Shop Items.  Sometimes a major patch may bring changes to all of the above mentioned, you should alter your strategy and experiment to make the most profit for your resources and style.

1. New Maps
Basic:
Game developers consistently introduce new areas that players can explore.  Typically these areas offer stronger enemies to satisfy and draw back players who have reached the level cap and quit.  Or these areas could offer faster leveling spots for new players to catch up to the existing players.

Buy Low:
To take advantage of the new maps can get a little tricky.  You need to first explore whether or not the new maps are good for either leveling or for money.  Generally, the new maps have specific themes and monsters of specific race and element such as Volcano, Seaworld, or Darkness Zombie Land.  If these new maps are good, the equipments that suit these maps will be relatively cheaper prior to the update.  For example, if the new map is a fire dungeon and offers 2x fast exp gain, you would expect the fire related weapon and armor to raise in price by 50% of more upon the patch.

Sell High:
After the patch update, wait for a couple weeks before the players fully realize how good the new maps are.  That is when you can start selling your related gears at inflated prices for huge profits.

Risk:
The player base might not appreciate the benefit of the new maps or the game publishers might not follow other versions updates exactly.  Your equipment investment may not appreciate due to these market forces.

2. New Quests
Basic:
Game publishers will also release additional quests to entice both new and existing players.  Usually the quests are universal with all the versions, if you can guess on the possible quest items required to complete them.  You can make great profits.

Buy Low:
Stock up on the quest items while they are cheap prior to the update.

Sell High:
Sell you stocks after the update for great profits.  Typically the prices are at its peak when the quests first get released because they often catch people by surprise.  Sell all your inventory for lots of money.

Risk:
The player base might not appreciate the benefit of the new quests or the game publishers might not follow other versions updates exactly.  The possible quest items that you have collected may remain purely worthless.

3. Level Cap Raises
Basic:
When there is a level cap raise near the horizon, you can expect some of the player base to come back to the game and finish the content.  People will be racing to be the top who hit the next level cap.  And there are usually double exp events and race to the top events hosted by the game publishers along with other goodie events.

Buy Low:
None.

Sell High:
Prior to the release of the level cap raise.  The level capped equipments will be trading at its all time high.  Both new and existing players are demanding those equipments to level up as fast as they can once the cap is raised.

During this time, SELL all of your level capped equipments.  These equipments will drop tremendously in value once the cap is raised along with new equipments that people need to buy.

Risk:
If you cannot sell your level capped equipments on time before majority of the players outlevel them.  Your equipments will lose half or more of its current value.

4. Game Mechanic Changes
Basic:
Game developers usually introduce market changing game mechanic updates either to balance existing classes, or encourage additional Cash shop spending.  By understanding the possible balance updates in the future.  You can profit greatly.

Buy Low:
The game mechanic updates might shift players preference toward playing another class.  This will in turn shift the demand of equipments for that specific class.  If you can predict which class will be the most powerful after the update, you can stock up on those items at cheap prices.

Another major game mechanic change deals with equipment upgrades and refines.  Game developers usually make it harder to upgrade or make the upgrades far more powerful.  This action encourages player spending in Cash Shops.  If the game developers decide to go with this route.  You can expect the prices of equipments to go up 10-fold.

Sell High:
If you had stocked up on the items while they are cheap, it is time to reap the rewards by selling those items at relatively inflated prices of 20% to 1000% more depending on your game.

Risk:
the game publishers might not follow other versions updates exactly.  The equipments that you have collected may remain the same value.

5. Introduction of PvP
Basic:
For some of the online MMORPG’s, they are originally developed with low PvP content.  However, the trend of online game is to gradually introduce PvP content as time goes on and servers age.  These new PvP contents will bring brand new interest to the PvP oriented classes and gears.

Buy Low:
Research what gears and classes are good to kill other players.  Stock up on those gears and patiently wait for the release of PvP content.

Sell High:
Once PvP content is released, you can either sell for instant profit.  Or wait longer until prices mature.  Typically the prices hit the peak when there are tournament-like events where major guild wars occur.  You can sell your stocked up PvP gears at extremely high prices for awesome profits.

Risk:
If you wait too long, better and stronger equipments may get released and you will lose out on potential profits.

6. Additional Cash Shop Items
Basic:
Game publishers host games with the intention of making money.  Logically they will have to release additional Cash Shop items to renew player interest while getting good stream of income.  You can profit based on this tendency.

Buy Low:
For the games that offer you to trade in-game currencies, you should trade for those in-game cash because the tokens will keep its value.

Sell High:
When new Cash Shop items get released.  Typically they come with a sale of the existing items plus deposit bonuses, and more.  You can profit by trading back your in-game tokens at inflated prices.

Risk:
None.
